Lliclla I Pendant
Inspired by the Lliclla, a textile mantle, one of the Peruvian old-age textile traditions, that has been passed from generation to generation. The single link Lliclla pendant has the same length of the a single pearl drop necklace.
Unique to the Andean regions of Latin America, the tradition of weaving the Lliclla for the next generation is passed from mother to daughter. The Lliclla pendant is the Pearl from the Andes, because it is the honor to a cultivated craft passed from generation to generation, like pearls.
The Lliclla pendant is crafted symbolizing the origin of the wearers, where the lines represent the geography where the person comes from. It is a symbol of protection, heritage and ethnic representation.
Because of the hand crafting complexity of each piece, it requires constant iterations and a careful work that decants in around 20 hours from the material sourcing, design and making process between designer Andrea Jose and a specialist team of local goldsmiths.
